A Well Trained dog is a joy to live with.
Dogs who are well behaved have a much better of quality of life than those who are not.
They get taken to more places, included in more family activities and are a valued member of the family.
Dogs and humans are two different species, and sometimes there can be misunderstandings between the two. Paws 2 Play
can help you to better understand your dog, and learn how to raise a happy, confident, well adjusted dog.
Whether you have a young puppy you want to get off to the best possible start, or an older dog who could do with learning
some new skills, Paws 2 Play can help.
At Paws 2 Play we use only reward based techniques and believe in kind, fair and effective training methods.
As we are supposedly the more intelligent part of the canine/human partnership,
we have a moral obligation to teach our dogs kindly, being aware of how their minds work and how they learn best. Punishment has
no place in training dogs, we can teach them what we want without having to resort to using physical force. It's brain not braun that
trains dogs!
Class sizes are strictly limited to ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment for dogs and owners. They are run by Jo Corney,
who is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Jo is fully insured and is always on one course or another in order to keep
up to date with the latest research and techniques.
All classes are held Thursday evenings at Herrington Scout Hut.

FOLLOW ON CLASSES
***COMING SOON***
Follow-on classes will be available to dogs who have completed either the puppy or the adult beginner courses. More advanced dogs and/or
owners may be able to progess straight onto this course after an assessment.
This covers taking the training on a step, generalising learned behaveiours to a variety of environments and increasing reliability and
duration.
There are also fun exercises aimed to stretch the training.
'REAL LIFE' OUTDOOR CLASSES
These are for people who have already done training with their dogs, either having completed one of our previous classes or on their
own.
They consist of small groups meeting for a walk and practicing training such as loose lead walking and recall, as well as incorporating
ongoing controlled socialisation with other dogs.
They will also involve more advanced training, such as nosework and chase recall.
They will be held every fortnight, and cost £10 per dog. The classes will last approximately 2 hours.
HEELWORK TO MUSIC CLASSES
These classes are purely for fun and are great for keeping the minds of intelligent dogs busy!
Heelwork to music is also known as canine freestyle, or doggy dancing. It involves teaching the dogs a range of moves such as heelwork in
different positions, spins, weaving between legs, standing on the back legs etc, and putting them together to form routines which are
played to music.
At present it is not a set course, and fees will just set out to cover hall hire so will be dependent on the number of people
interested.
A class of 5 dogs would be charged £3 per class.
